We recognize that families play a crucial role in supporting young people with chronic conditions. A key aim of our research is to discover engaging and evidence-based approaches for supporting wellbeing among families of young people with chronic illness.
We want to make sure our research is guided by what the families of young people with chronic conditions believe is important for them. Previous research with young Australians with chronic conditions, their caregivers, and health professionals has identified the following priorities:
increasing participation in school and social activities
strengthening capacity to cope
promoting family wellbeing
improving quality of care
You can read more about this research here. In 2019 we will be conducting research to understand more about the priorities of young people and their families and health professionals when it comes to promoting coping, wellbeing and resilience.
