Priority-Setting for Children and Young People with Chronic Conditions and Disabilities

We are pleased to share our latest publication in Health Expectations - Priority setting for children and young people with chronic conditions and disabilities

Priority-setting is a crucial aspect of understanding what research is most meaningful for children and young people with chronic conditions and disabilities. This process involves working closely with children and young people with chronic conditions and disabilities, their family members, and the professionals that work with them, to identify the most pressing issues and goals for research to support their wellbeing.

Our study involved 200 people at each stage, with more than 80 different chronic conditions represented. The results show that it is important to think beyond just medical care when designing research for this group. The top priority we identified was raising awareness, increasing community inclusion and reducing exclusion and isolation of young people with chronic conditions and disabilities in all aspects of life.
